“Without music, life would be a mistake.”
—Friedrich Nietzsche
Living out Nietzsche’s creed, Eitan has been playing, writing, and performing music professionally for over 15 years. His repertoire is, to say the least, eclectic. While his personal preference leans towards rock and metal (Killswitch Engage, Devin Townsend, and Between the Buried and Me), he is also an accomplished performer of numerous genres ranging from classical (Dyens, Brouwer, Tarrega…) to musical theater (Rent, The Last 5 Years, Bare: A Pop Opera...) and a growing variety of styles in between. Additionally, he has participated in barbershop quartets and chorus, competing at the championship level. He has composed original scores and provided accompaniment for live circus performances...as well as ceremonies of rabbinic ordination! You can hear his original compositions on iHeartRadio and television episodes such as “Countdown to UFC” on FX, “Behind the Music: Pitbull” on VH1, “Made” on MTV, and “Wreck Chasers” on The Discovery Channel.
Among Eitan’s many live performance credits are the Rent 25th anniversary national tour, An Officer and a Gentleman national tour, and the Cirque Musica Holiday Wonderland national tour. These tours alone account for shows in 26 states as well as performances in Canada. He has also performed in regional productions of Escape to Margaritaville (John W. Engeman Theater), The Wedding Singer (The Gateway Theater), and Rock of Ages (The Argyle Theater). Eitan has lent his playing to dozens of productions in community theaters, high schools, colleges, community centers, and churches. A particular interest Eitan has pursued is new musicals. He has performed, at times contributing to the score, on some 10 new musicals. Outside of theater he performs regularly with numerous projects, original and cover/top 40, at bars, parties, weddings, showers, galas, cabarets, and other venues in need of high quality music.
Eitan is a seasoned teacher of all ages, and has shaped the musical experience and repertoire of hundreds of young people. He has provided instruction and programming at summer camps and community centers for well over 10 years. As Band Master General of Bach to Rock of Port Washington, he has coached, trained, and booked scores of youth bands, annually leading his students to first place finishes in the New York metropolitan area’s Regional Battle of the Bands at such venues as The Red Lion, The Cutting Room, and The City Winery. Competing franchises of Bach to Rock throughout New York have turned to Eitan to train their faculty in development and execution of their own band programs. He also instituted a weekly “Teen Jam” in which students ages 13-18 would meet up and make music at Bach to Rock. Through this program, students developed friendships and musical relationships which have led to all sorts of artistic ventures.
Eitan studied music, psychology, and music therapy at Molloy College, graduating with a degree in Music Performance. While his primary instrument is guitar, he is proficient in numerous other instruments and has taught and performed on bass, piano, drums, general percussion, ukulele, and mandolin. Over the years he has dabbled in tenor banjo, trombone, saxophone and many more.
Eitan deeply believes that it is a musician’s duty to never stop learning, or as the Barbershop Harmony Society anthem states, to
“...Carry your part, keep the melody ringing and ringing in your heart.”
